I'm so glad the Reds didn't draft him now. He will never amount to anything.

A little heads up that a few Reds prospects will be featured in a Rising Stars game on Saturday in Arizona and the game will be shown on MLB Network. The past two first round picks - Mike Leake and Yonder Alonso - as well as Chris Heisey and Zack Cozart will be on the NL roster. You can bet that we'll have a game thread up, so keep your eyes out for it on Saturday!

Monday Morning Quiz: Name the 1990 Reds

52

There were 40 players that played in at least 1 game during the regular season for the 1990 World Champion Cincinnati Reds. How many of those players can you name? Today's quiz is probably the hardest one yet. To give you an idea, I made the quiz and then 2 minutes later, I only got 35 of the 40 players. There are some obscure names on this list. As always, avoid the comments section before taking the quiz as there tends to be spoilers. If you want to keep the game fair for all, please don't put spoilers in the thread, and if you do, please label them in the subject so that people can skip you comment until after they take the quiz.

Farmers Only Update: Introducing your 2010 Lynchburg Hillcats

The Fay is reporting that the Reds High-A affiliate will move from Sarasota to Lynchburg. The Hillcats play in the Carolina League, and won their league last year. My take is that keeping track of the Carolina League and the Carolina Mudcats is going to get mighty confusing.

Byrnes, D-Backs close to split

An eyewitness caught a glimpse of Pops Daniels reading this article this morning and the witness stated that Pops was "intensely concerned and unabashedly pessimistic that the Reds would make a trade for this player." When asked directly for his thoughts on the matter Daniels replied, "I fucking know they'll do it. Arizona will eat some money and the Reds will give up a prospect or 2 for that piece of shit." Time will tell if this ticking time bomb is correct. "Fuckers," he concluded.

The Machine and the return of the RR Book Club

Getting tired of fisticuffs breaking out at your Michael Chabon book club meetings? Maybe an online forum to discuss the best book about the best baseball team is your cup of tea! As you know, Joe Posnanski of SI (and formerly of the Cincinnati Post) detailed the 1975 Reds in glorious fashion in The Machine, which was released to wide acclaim this fall. As we did for The Soul of Baseball, Red Reporter will post a series of FanShots FanPosts somethings this winter on chapters of the book to generate some discussion. I don't plan on posting anything until well after the World Series, but I wanted to throw this out there so that anyone that hasn't yet purchased the book can do so.

Monday Morning Quiz: Reds Award Winners

16

This week's quiz looks at how much you know about Reds award winners. We're looking for NL MVPs, Playoff MVPs, All Star Game MVPs, NL Rookies of the Year, NL Rolaids Relief Award winners, and NL Managers of the Year. How many can you name in 7 minutes? As always, avoid the spoilers in the comments before you take the quiz.
