The 2023 World Series matchup could be set tonight

Middletown native Kyle Schwarber has been socking homers at a rate more painful than our nation’s mortgage lenders - that is, of course, if you’re a fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks. If you’re a follower of the Philadelphia Phillies on their quest to a second consecutive World Series appearance, however, you’ve been watching each and every Schwarblast as if it were Christmas morning all over again.

Kyle, Bryce Harper, & Co. will look to eliminate the Diamondbacks this evening in the 6th game of the 2023 National League Championship Series at Citizens Bank Park, a game that you’ll be able to watch on TBS beginning promptly at 5:07 PM ET. Aaron Nola will toe the rubber for the Phils opposite Merrill Kelly of Arizona, the Snakes hoping to force a Game 7 with a victory that throws them a lifeline.

Over in the American League Championship Series, it’ll be a star-studded winner-take-all affair at Minute Maid Park in Houston as the Astros play host to the Texas Rangers in Game 7. It’s the first game the entire postseason that will be played as the final, must-win game of a series seeing as the earlier rounds all featured early eliminations, and the pitching matchup - Max Scherzer for the Texas Rangers, Cristian Javier for the ‘Stros - could well be electric, too.

The ALCS won’t exactly follow the NLCS seeing as it’ll be broadcast on a different network (FOX/FS1), but its 8:03 PM ET start time paired with the new, speedy-game rules put in place by Fred Manrob means the two games should dovetail pretty well with one another. And if the Phillies manage to coax out another victory in their game this evening, the matchup for the 2023 World Series will be decided at some point before the sun next rises.
