Friday’s game was a laugher but Jan Hernandez hit a dinger and went 2 for 3 with two total RBI and a walk. The Bats were able to walk away on Saturday with a victory. Michael “Hotel” Mariot gave up four earned runs over five innings which was not good but Tim “Able Body” Adleman struck out three in two shutout innings, Brandon Finnegan struck out one in a scoreless frame, and “Finding” Dauri Moreta did the same to keep the Indians at bay. Mariot hilariously did his team some good with his subpar start by hitting a solo dinger, and Michael De Leon went 2 for 5 with a dinger. Louisville was shutout on Sunday but Hunter “John Deere” Greene did start. He gave up an earned run over four innings on four hits, one walk, while striking out three. Zach Lee tossed three perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts. Mike Freeman singled twice and walked once.

It was a good little weekend for the Lookouts and was sandwiched by two shutouts. Jacques “Pikachu” Pucheu took the start and gave up only a hit and a walk over four innings while striking out seven. He’s having himself a pretty good year. JC Keys followed him with two shutout inning with two strikeouts, then it was Matt “Quick” Pidich for an inning, and then “Ed, Edd, and” Eddy Demurias with three strikeouts over two innings. Matt Lloyd hit a solo dinger and Luis Rivas walked twice and singled in a run. In Saturday’s game Dylan Baker did not have the best start (4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) and Alexis Diaz and Daniel “Bullseye” Duarte struck out three over 1.1 scoreless but the offense largely fell flat with “John” Quincy McAfee getting on base three times. Sunday, Randy Wynne pitched seven shutout innings while only giving up four hits and striking out five. Juan Pinto and Miguel Figueroa combined to finish the final two innings. Chuckie “Gruden” Robinson hit a solo dinger, had two RBI, and walked. Matt Lloyd singled, walked twice, and scored, and Luis Rivas went 3 for 4 with a triple and a walk.

A sub par weekend for the Dragons was capped by rain on Saturday and then losing the double header on Sunday. Friday’s win was led by Bryce “Dusty” Bonnin who pitched 4.1 innings and surrendered two unearned runs. He allowed a hit, two walks, while striking out nine. Gilbert (2.2 IP, 4 K) and Timpanelli (1.2 IP, 3 K) locked down the win. The offense was relatively spread out and nothing of ultimate note was done. In Sunday’s first game Carson Spiers gave up two unearned, one earned, runs over five innings on three hits, one walk, and four strikeouts. Matt McLain singled and walked. In game two, Lenny Kravetz gave up two earned over three innings but struck out six. Fisher (2.1 IP, 2 K) and Branche (1.2 IP, 5 K) did their best to keep it in reach but you gotta score runs to win and in seven innings the Dragons had three base runners.

Daytona was able to finish out a weekend strong after having a crappy Friday that was plagued with rain and losing. None of the pitching nor the hitting was good so I’m just going to skip that one by. Sunday, Jose Franco struck out five in four innings while only giving up two hits, one run, and no walks. Hanson pitched another four innings of shutout relief. Offensively, Garrett “Were” Wolforth hit a three run dinger and had two walks. Rece “Melon” Hinds also went 3 for 5 with three RBI, a walk, and a run scored. There were a lot of hits in this one. Check out the box score. In Sunday’s win Ryan Cardona gave up an earned run over three innings with three strikeouts. Then in relief, Zimmerman gave up only an earned run over three innings with four strikeouts, and Gonzalez struck out four in 2.1 shutout innings. Jose Torres went 2 for 3 with a walk and a RBI, and Brandon Leyton went 3 for 5 with two runs scored.
