Good Morning, Charlie

Boy, I dunno about you, but I could really use a long relaxing six-week medically induced coma

A Joey Thing - Wick did one yesterday but I find it worthwhile to point out that I loved Joey Votto before Wick did and I love him more than Wick does. Some may dismiss this as a distinction without a difference, but I probably wouldn’t be able to sleep if I sat on that one.

So yeah in his last 30 games, Joey is slashing .327/.432/.755. He isn’t hitting like Joey Classic, as has been pointed out by everyone everywhere. He’s slugging much, much more.

I have so much to feel about this.

A Thing That Might Bother Like Two People - Here’s a neat thing about baseball and the olympics.

The Reds’ rep on the list is current prospect and starting catcher for Team USA, Mark Kolosvary. I love that dude! They gave the Giants the legendary Jim Thorpe, which I take exception to. Thorpe is among the five greatest athletes in American history, but he lived like 100 years ago before sports became the official religion around here so he didn’t get rich doing it. He suffered greatly through his life and died in poverty.

Thorpe played 77 games for the Reds in 1917, the longest stretch of professional baseball he would play through his career. He played a bit here and there with the Giants over a number of years, but that summer in Cincinnati was really a bigger deal.

While I do not mean to take anything away from Yolo Kolo, but I claim the Bright Path for our Redboys.

A Sucks Thing - The national eviction moratorium expired, exposing millions and millions of the most vulnerable among us to needless, pornographic levels of suffering. The Democratic Party, controlling all three federal chambers of elected power, did nothing to address the situation.

We’re on our own out here.
