Louisville Bats 5, Indianapolis Indians 1
Reiver “Regifter” Sanmartin gave the Bats the stability they needed out of the gate last night. Sanmartin has been shifting from the rotation to the pen and fired five innings with only one unearned run scored. He allowed four hits, two walks, while striking out four. Dauri Moreta struck out two in a shutout inning to extend his scoreless inning streak. Out of the 34 games he pitched this year he’s allowed runs in three of them. Again, he has not allowed a run in AAA and sports a sub 1.00 ERA for the season. All the numbers point to a call up so let’s just get it done already. TJ “My Precious” Freidl went 2 for 4 with a dinger and two runs scored.
Chattanooga Lookouts 0, COVID 19
The Lookouts were supposed to play the Tennessee Smokies this week but the pandemic is still raging on, mostly in the South. Both teams are in Tennessee which has super low vaccination numbers and a state level government actively working against public health. If you don’t believe me, here is an article that details how shitty their government is. The outbreak of COVID appears to be a Tennessee Smokie issue, which is a Chicago Cub affiliate, and we know they’re a dumpster fire of an organization. So, I’m going to give them part of the blame. In the immortal words of Charlie Scrabbles, we never stood a chance. If you’re not vaccinated and reading this go get it done. There is no reason at this point for you not to except for selfishness and laziness.
Dayton Dragons 0, Rain 100
On the only slightly better side of the Ohio River, Dayton had their game and suspended make up game banged due to completely normal and sane circumstances. It rained a lot. I’m sure they’ll try to make them both up this weekend or something. Double headers are fun.
St. Lucie Mets 4, Daytona Tortugas 3
Andrew “Jim” Abbott took the short start and allowed an earned run over two innings but had his strikeout pitch working. He allowed three hits, no walks, while striking out four. Gabriel Aguilera allowed only one run over four innings but gave up three hits and four walks and lucked out that the game was blown elsewhere. Daniel “Jello Jiggler” Vellojin went 1 for 3 with two walks and a run scored, Rueben “Sandwich” Ibarra went 2 for 5 with a RBI, and Danny Lantigua went 2 for 4 with a run scored.
