The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Honorary Star of the Game
It’s truly impossible to award this tonight to any one player. Instead, I think this is an award to address how awesome I think this season has been. There have been the ups and downs like anything else but the Reds are once again ten games above .500. They will be 7.5 game back of Milwaukee and likely stay at 2.5 games behind San Diego. They have two more games against the Cubs and four games against the Marlins. That’s all before they go to Milwaukee to face the Brewers for the last time this season.
Tonight was just a taste of what we got to watch over the course of the season. Wade Miley was awesome (7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K). Jonathan India was on base at least three times, hit a double, a dinger, and knocked in five runs. He is the NL Rookie of the Year. There is no doubt. Aristides Aquino walked, and hit a missile for a two run home run, and singled. Joey Votto singled three times, walked, and hit his 2000th career hit. It was beautiful to see him waving to the crowd, and I got a bit choked up, but it was even more awesome to watch him laser the single to center field. He truly does bang and he is banging harder than just about anyone in baseball. Kyle Famer, who was originally drafted as a freaking catcher, made a gold glove caliber play at short and hit a clutch double in the eight run seventh. Castellanos singled twice and walked, and Tyler Naquin singled, walked twice, and drove in a run. Tucker Barnhart doubled in a run earlier and then hit a two run dinger late. I could go on and on but in the end I’m just going to leave the final offensive line for the Reds.
The Reds had 14 hits, 8 walks, 14 RBI, 6 extra base hits, including 3 total bombs of home runs.

Other Notes
- The Reds are going to play in that Field of Dreams thing next August. Cool, I guess.
- The Reds bullpen and the Cubs made it more interesting late but I couldn’t care less about that right now.
- To all the Negative Nancy’s out there. Shut up and finally just enjoy this season. You’ll be way cooler and less pathetic.
