Reds at Cubs, Game Four - News, Lineups, & Pitching Matchups

The Reds have won their last two games against an imploding Cubs team. That’s good.

They still find themselves 7 back in the NL Central, because Milwaukee has also won their last two games, both against the Pirates. The Reds need to capitalize on this momentum and keep the pressure on, and they can do that today with their best pitcher on the mound.

News

  • Joey Votto’s last 7 hits have been home runs. I kind of wish this Cubs series wouldn’t end.
  • From our buddy Slyde-piece, this is pretty awesome to see:
  • Reinforcements are coming! According to C. Trent, Nick Senzel and Mike Moustakas are both about to head into rehab assignments in Louisville. Michael Lorenzen could maybe be in the bullpen this weekend, and is with the team on the road trip. Let’s hope that when he comes back, they use him as a pitcher this time.
  • No Kris Bryant or Anthony Rizzo for the Cubs today. I’m sure all the hugs they’ll be getting will just be wishing them luck for their previously scheduled off day.

Roster Moves

  • Mychal Givens is active for today’s game, with Ryan Hendrix getting shipped back to the taxi squad. Hopefully he can bounce back a bit with less pressure and regular work in Louisville.
