Jose Barrero - 4 for 5, 2B, HR, 4 R, 6 RBI
It’s getting harder and harder to justify keeping Jose Barrero in Triple-A and not with the Reds. He has done nothing but hit the ball this season, putting up an impressive .281/.385/.494 slash and hitting 5 home runs since his call up to Louisville. Those numbers only improved on Wednesday, as he put up a 4-hit night and drove in 6 runs. It’s about time the Reds give him another shot.
Like the Major League club, Louisville put a beat down on the Cubs on Wednesday. Reiver Sanmartin was solid in his start, allowing a run on 3 hits with no walks and 2 strikeouts. Matt “Quidditch” Pidich struck out 2 in 2 scoreless innings of relief. Now for the offense. Buckle up because this will take a while. We already talked about Jose Barrero. Included in the above numbers was a 3-run dinger, which is awesome. Michael “Lannister” De Leon went 3 for 3 and also hit a 3-run homer. Alfredo “Sauce” Rodriguez went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI and Chris Okey “Dokey” went 1 for 2 with 3 walks and a solo blast.
A 4-run third was all it took to down the Lookouts on Wednesday. “Return of the” Mac Sceroler started and went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with no walks and 2 strikeouts. Miguel Figueroa struck out a couple in 1 scoreless inning of relief. WIIILLLLLSSSOOOOOONNNN Garcia went 2 for 4 with a dinger and 2 RBI while Chuckie “Scrabblies” Robinson also went 2 for 4 and scored a run.
Dayton scored 2 runs in the 7th and 8th innings to come back and beat Lake County last night. Eduardo Salazar “Slytherin” started and went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits while walking 3 and striking out 4. Jacob “Ouch” Hurtubise went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI. James “I was born” Free went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles.
Daytona had their game banged on Wednesday. They’ll play a double header today starting at 5:05 PM ET.
