Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
Lyon Richardson - 6 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 5 K
Louisville Bats 2, Iowa Cubs 3
Riley “Blarney” O’Brien took the start and got himself a quality one (6 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K). The one guy you’re probably all wondering how he did was Lucas “The” Sims who did pitch a scoreless inning with a strikeout but walked two. Carson “City” Fulmer also struck out two in a scoreless inning. Alejo “Aloha” Lopez knocked in the Bat’s two runs with a double, and Braxton “Broxy” Lee singled and walked twice.
Chattanooga Lookouts 4, Tennessee Smokies 3
Ricky “Slobbering” Salinas was also adequate over his five inning start (5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K). Diomar “Dinoman” Lopez struck out two in two shutout innings and Hector “Of Troy” Perez struck out the side while securing the save. Brian “Sey Hey” Rey had the big hit of the night. he was 2 for 5 with a single, a two run dinger, and two runs scored overall. Errol “Lorre” Robinson was 2 for 3 with a RBI, walk, run scored, and a stolen base.
Dayton Dragons 4, Lake County Captains 7
Michael “Angelo” Feliz got knocked out early. He gave up four earned runs on three hits, one walk, while striking out one in just one inning of work. Lyon “Heart” Richardson, who has had his struggles this year, picked up his team by only giving up and earned run over six innings of work (1 H, 2 BB, 5 K). Sadly, that was not enough to hold off the Captains. “San” Francisco Urbaez went 3 for 4 with a solo homer which was of the inside the park variety, a walk, and two runs scored, and Victor “Vector” Ruiz went 2 for 4 with two RBI. Jacob “Lou” Hurtubise went 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.
Daytona Tortugas 7, St. Lucie Mets 2
Christian “Feather” Roa, the 2019 2nd round pick, took the bump for the Tortugas and was fantastic. He gave up a single earned run over five innings (4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K). The only run he gave up was a solo dinger. “Yosemite” Sam Hellinger struck out five over three shutout innings of relief. “Keep” Austin “Weird” Hendrick singled in two runs and walked. His OPS is inching up towards .800 on the year. The Tortugas were able to put up seven runs even though they did not have an extra base hit, but they did have more walks than hits which helps.
