Nick Castellanos hit the 10-day IL with a busted wrist, the sky is actively falling, and the Cincinnati Reds face a make or break period in what’s otherwise been a promising year. So, of course it’s the St. Louis Cardinals who stand in their way, and the Reds will be forced to go through their longtime nemesis to keep this season’s bleak hopes alive.
Alejo Lopez is back, Vlad Gutierrez is, too, Amir Garrett is on the paternity list for a few days, and that’s the gist of the roster moves today.
Oh yeah - if the Cardinals manage to beat the Reds tonight or win the series, they’ll leapfrog the Reds in the standings in the National League Central, in case you thought the Reds chances at a the playoffs weren’t already a longshot at this juncture.
Anyway, go Reds, do the dang thing, and back Tyler Mahle with about a billion runs tonight, would ya?
