Key Plays

  • Sonny Gray got off to a rough one. He hit the first batter, gave up a single to the second, and then almost botched a run down after making a heads up play with a groundball back to the pitcher from Christian Yelich. The Reds got the lead runner of the run down, but both batters advanced to third and second on the play. Gray then walked the bases loaded. He got back up 1B Rowdy Tellez to a 0-2 pitch and then hit him in the elbow to score a run. Gray then got a strikeout and a grounder back to the pitcher. However, it took Gray more than thirty pitches to get through the inning. Brewers lead, 1-0.
  • Gray really cruised through the next three innings but got into trouble again in the bottom of the fifth. Luis Urias singled and then advanced to second on an error by Shogo with one out. Gray then struck out Yelich, but he walked Adames and Tellez. The first pitch to Tyrone Taylor, after a mound visit, was laced into left field for a single scoring two runs. Jackie Bradley Jr. then laced a liner into the right field corner. It cleared the bases for another two runs and Bradley Jr. walked to third. That pushed Sonny Gray from the game for Ryan Hendrix. Hendrix then secured the strikeout to end the inning. Brewers lead, 5-0.
  • Christian Yelich took Cionel Perez deep in the 7th. Brewers lead, 6-0.
  • Santillan gave up a double run dinger in the top of the 9th. The Reds did some shit where they loaded the bases in the 9th but they did not score. Brewers win, .
