Good lord, could you imagine having to travel to Omaha by bus to play baseball? I’m assuming AAA doesn’t spring for a plane for that kind of travel. Whatever. The game last night was Hunter “John Deere” Greene’s debut in AAA and it was not what he probably wanted. He did give up four earned runs on four solo homers over four innings. That has been Greene’s Achilles heel all year. However, he also only allowed those four hits, walked only one batter, and struck out eight. I find the walk and strikeout numbers more important. He also reportedly hit 104 MPH on the gun. Phillip “Big” Diehl struck out the side in a scoreless inning of relief, and Edgar Garcia struck out two in a scoreless inning as well.

Chattanooga Lookouts 7, Tennessee Smokies 13

Dylan Baker took the start and was not good. He allowed four earned over three innings on six hits, two walks, while striking out three. The rest of the bullpen was awful outside of Alexis “Lexus” Diaz who did have an unearned run scored against him but struck out two in his appearance. Pedro “Money” Cedrola went 2 for 5 with a three run dinger, and Chuckie “Finster” Robinson went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a stolen base. Everyone is watching Jose Barrero, once we remembered he was formerly named Jose Garcia (I did not forget, I swear), because you never know if and when he could get called up again. Barrero went 1 for 3 with a RBI, a walk, and two runs scored.

Dayton Dragons 2, Fort Wayne TinCaps 0

Ya boy, Graham “Heiney Wagon” Ashcraft, continues to slice up them eye nuggets. Ashcraft chucked five shutout innings on two measly hits, two walks, while striking out seven. I’m guessing a promotion to AA will be in the works come the draft. Spencer “Chicken” Stockton struck out two in three shutout innings of relief, and Pedro Garcia struck out one in his scoreless inning as he picked up his first save of the year. Jose Tello “Phone” hit a solo dinger, and Victor “Eeeeee” Ruiz knocked in a run with a triple and walked.

Daytona Tortugas 10, Palm Beach Cardinals 11

It really sucks when you score ten runs and you don’t win. So, I’m just gonna skip talking about the pitching. Be better. Austin “Massachusetts” Hendrick hit his first home run of his professional career, a two run shot, while also coaxing a walk. Leonardo “Ninja Turtle” Seminati went 2 for 5 with a dinger, three RBI, a walk, and two runs scored. Ivan “The Terrible” Johnson went 1 for 3 with a double, three RBI, three walks, and a run scored. Gus Steiger also went 1 for 3 with two walks and two runs score, and Rafael “Angry Turtle” Franco walked three times. Overall, the Tortugas only had seven hits but walked twelve times.
