Reds at Cleveland, Game 3 - Get the Cup (POSTPONED)

Let’s go.

On to the next one.

The Reds will attempt to take the series in this Mother’s Day, series ending game with Cleveland, and with it, the Ohio Cup (surely that is a very real thing that people very much care a lot about).

The Reds today will face Sam Hentges, who is making his first start of the year for Cleveland. In four appearances over nine innings, he’s allowed five runs with eight strikeouts and two walks. He’s been extremely hittable in those nine innings, allowing 14 hits, with a 1.778 WHIP. He’s given up a lot of hits and walks in his previous years in the minors, as well, with a 1.648 and 1.411 WHIP in 2019 and 2018, respectively.

He hadn’t pitched above AA until this season, but that’s not uncommon, with the lost minor league season in 2020.

He is a Cleveland pitching prospect, so I just assume that he’ll be an upper tier pitcher before it’s all said and done.

The Reds answer with Tyler Mahle, who’d been nails all season until he ran into a Cubs buzzsaw last weekend. He’ll look to get back on track today.

Go Reds.

*UPDATE: Nevermind. This game is postponed due to inclement weather.*
