Tough loss last night. Let’s hope that tonight is better.
Luis Castillo is on the mound for Cincinnati tonight. Go read Tony’s excellent piece on him from earlier this week, but it’s been encouraging to see that his stuff is pretty much where you’d expect it to be, but the results on the field haven’t been there. The Reds pitching coaches seem to think that he’s still fixable at this point, and keep giving him starts as opposed to a trip to the IL with a bruised ego. Let’s hope they get something fixed tonight.
The Reds will face an old friend in Anthony DeSclafani tonight, who has been absolutely fantastic since joining the Giants in the offseason. He’s got a 2.14 ERA so far, and looking at the numbers, it’s clear that he’s doing a lot better job of keeping the ball in the ballpark and keeping bats away from his pitches. When your WHIP is half of what it was a season ago, good things will come. I’m happy to see Disco doing his thing, but would love for him to slip up tonight so the Reds can pull a W out.
No Senzel, no Shogo tonight.
