Reds at Rockies, Game 1 - Preview and Lineups

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Reds come off of their series win and head to the mountains to take on Colorado.

The opener of the series will feature Luis Castillo as the starter for Cincinnati, who hasn’t quite looked like the staff ace that David Bell thought he was getting on Opening Day. We’ve seen flashes of brilliance from him, but he’s yet to put it together into a completely dominant start. The Reds’ hit or miss offense has been missing a lot with him on the mound, so the Reds hope he can find some of that form and keep the team in this one.

He’ll face Chi Chi Gonzalez for the Rockies, who is actually another Alex Gonzalez in disguise. Gonzalez started the year in the bullpen, and has mostly gotten knocked around since joining the rotation, with the exception of his lone home start of the season against the Mets. The 5+ ERA may be deceiving.

Jonny Bollywood is back in the lineup, with Kyle Farmer taking shortstop duties today. No Shogo.
