Reds vs. Cubs, Game 1 - Preview and Lineups

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at Los Angeles Dodgers Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

After an off day, the Reds are back in town and ready to take on the Cubs in a weekend series at GABP. The weather should be perfect for baseball tonight, so let’s get to it.

The Cubs entered this offseason with money issues and made cuts, very similarly to how the Reds approached their offseason. Both teams find themselves at the bottom of the NL Central, so this should prove to be an important series for both teams. Look for the Cubs fans to be invading Cincinnati in full force.

The Reds have Wade Miley on the bump tonight, their knight in shining armor so far in the rotation. Miley is coming off of two straight losses, but has still pitched well even in those games. As the only one who’s been able to go deep into games so far, Miley needs to set the tone for the weekend and not have an early exit.

They’ll face Jake Arrieta, who is back with the Cubs after two years in Philadelphia. He’s looked back to the same form that got him his Cy Young award there, so he may be a tough nut to crack in this one. Like Miley, he’s now a veteran and is the stalwart in what’s a young rotation in Chicago.

A little bit of a lineup shakeup today, as the struggling Eugenio Suarez moves down to 6th in the order. Everyone else is in there as regulars.

Let’s start a new streak tonight. Go Reds.
