We’re gonna do this again, huh? The Reds had another weird night, where uncharacteristically, the bullpen was pretty good but the bats couldn’t get it done. Another late rally goes for naught, and the Reds have lost 5 straight.
They’re going to try to avoid making it 6 straight today. Surprising rotation rock Wade Miley is on the hill for the day game in St. Louis, as he tries to bounce back from a lackluster start against the Tribe last time out. He’ll face reliever turned starter John Gant, who is apparently of no relation to former Red and Cardinal Ron Gant. Woulda been better if he was.
Kyle Farmer gets the start at 3rd today, with good news from Mike Moustakas dropping last night that he should be able to be back at the hot corner soon after he’s eligible to come off the IL on Tuesday. Birthday boy Tyler Naquin is in CF, batting 5th with Nick Senzel coming off the bench.
The game is a 2:15 ET start, which should coincide nicely with the FC Cincinnati game at 1 today. Stay inside on this rainy day in Cincy, watch FCC until they’re down by too many goals to come back, and the Reds should be in the 5th or so behind the quick-working Miley.
