Reds vs. Diamondbacks, Game 2 - Preview and Lineups

This is a weird one, since we’ll be finishing the suspended game last night before this game gets played. Right now, Lucas Sims is the pitcher in the game, and it’s possible that he may still be once the game restarts, but it’s not a sure thing. It’ll still be the 8th inning, the bases will still be loaded, and the weather will still be cold and sleety here. Hopefully the rain will hold out.

The “second game” will feature Tyler Mahle for Cincinnati. With the hiccups that Luis Castillo has had so far, it’s not a stretch to say that Mahle is the most consistent presence in the Reds’ rotation right now. The Reds could use a longer outing from him than what they’ve got, though, with the bullpen particularly taxed after last night/today’s game. Art Warren is up from the alternate site to help with that, if needed, and will be making his Reds’ debut.

The Snakes will counter with Merrill Kelly, who has pitched on the road so far this year. Kelly has had a couple of rough outings in a row. Can the Reds capitalize?

First game will resume at 5 ET, and the second game will start sometime after 6:40 ET.

Go Reds!
