Fox Sports Ohio has settled on the new voice of Cincinnati Reds broadcasts, naming veteran play-by-play announcer John Sadak to the role. They announced the move on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, with the Reds later confirming the news.

Per FS-O’s press release, Sadak is a veteran of almost every sporting event under the sun, ranging from New York Mets radio broadcasts to University of Delaware Women’s Basketball, with regular calls of the annual Army/Navy football game on his bio, too. That’s the kind of wide-ranging versatility that will hopefully bring ample professionalism and insight to the position, something lacking with his predecessor in the Reds booth.
I hesitate to make this too much about said predecessor, however, despite the absurdly offensive way in which he ended his tenure in the Reds booth. Sadak deserves the chance to establish his own voice in this role, and I’m as excited as anyone to hear how he takes to it.
Welcome to Reds Country, John.
