Baseball is back for 2021, and doesn’t look a heck of a lot different than what we’re used to. The Reds and the Indians will face off for the first time in Goodyear, as they do every year. The Reds will be, as they said, “on the ray-deeee-ohhhh”. WLW has the first pitch at 3:05 ET.
Jose De Leon will get the first start of spring for the Reds, and will likely get an inning or two of work. A lot of regulars in the lineup, as you can see above. Joey Votto, Mike Moustakas, Nick Castellanos, Eugenio Suarez. It’s just comforting to see those names in the lineup right now, with the prospect of a fresh season.
Of course, some more compelling names are in the lineup today, too. Mark Payton, Scott Heineman, and Max Schrock are getting chances to show that they belong on the roster. Kyle Farmer is leading off and starting at shortstop today, in an apparent “f— you” to Nick Krall and the front office. We’re in midseason form.
It’ll be interesting to see what relievers we see today too, but for me, I’m excited to have the radio in the background of this rainy Sunday in Cincinnati. Go Reds.
