Trevor Bauer takes the mound on short rest, just like he drew it up. Is he going to be able to deliver in the biggest game of the season?
Bauer comes into this one as the best Reds starter this year, and we should be right at the point where we’re starting to follow the Cy Young race with him. He’s one of the favorites right now, 2nd in the league in ERA and 6 strikeouts off of the league lead. Time will tell if this is Bauer’s final or penultimate start, but if the Reds need a win he’ll likely pitch again on Sunday.
Standing in their way will be Adrian Houser, who gave up 4 runs in 4 innings in his only other start against the Reds this year. Houser’s had an up and down year, much like the Reds’ Anthony DeSclafani, and hasn’t been going deep into ballgames so the bullpens may come into play for this one. The Reds will be hoping that they have better luck against the Milwaukee ‘pen than they did last night.
Winker and Galvis back in the lineup.
Another 6:40 start. Go Reds.
