Every game from here on out is the most important game of the season.
The Reds have started peaking at just the right time, and enter their last home series in a prime position to take a playoff spot. They have their best 3 starters going in this series, it’s time to get it done.
Luis Castillo opens the series coming off arguably the best two-start stretch of his career so far. After throwing his first career complete game in St. Louis, Castillo threw 7 shutout innings in his last start against the Pirates, striking out 10. Castillo is poised to throw two more starts this season, and the Reds could certainly use another good showing today.
The Reds are fortunate not to face Milwaukee’s best starter this season in Corbin Burnes, but they do see Brandon Woodruff tonight. Woodruff has been good in both of his starts against the Reds so far this season, and the Brewers won both of those games. He’s finding his form in September, with back-to-back 7-inning outings, including a 12-strikeout shutout performance against the Cubs.
First pitch is set for 6:40 PM ET. Go Reds.
