The last time the Cincinnati Reds won a postseason series was in 1995. It’s been a long time since 1995. Hell, it’s been a long time since 2019.
In the almost 25 years since the Reds last had any sort of playoff success, there has been ample time for Ryans to make their mark on the club, and make their mark they have. In digging back through rosters in search of them all, one thing became rather clear - relative to the amount of Ryans who graced the presence of the late ‘90s rosters, there has been an epic preponderance of Ryans on the Reds in the last decade.
Apparently, baseballing Ryans are simply in much greater abundance these days, as my study reveals.
Here is an almost certainly complete list of Ryans who have played for the Cincinnati Reds since the Cincinnati Reds last won a playoff series:
Ryan Dennick
Ryan Ludwick
Ryan Mattheus
Ryan LaMarre
Scooter Gennett
Ryan Lavarnway
Ryan Hanigan
Wilkin Castillo (not a Ryan, but a Wilkin nonetheless)
Ryan Freel
Ryan Jorgensen
Ryan Wagner
Ryan Dempster
B.J. Ryan
Honorable Mention: Dayan Diaz
