Reds at Cardinals, Game 1 - Preview and Lineups

The Reds are in trouble.

They’re at the point where they’re very likely to finish under .500. With the expanded playoff format, there’s an outside chance that they could still get in, but they need help.

In the meantime, though, the Reds desperately need to start winning series. They haven’t won one since August 7-9, when they were in Milwaukee. That’s plummeted their postseason chances down to only 9.8% according to Baseball-Reference.

One game at a time, and they could use a good start from Luis Castillo tonight. Castillo recorded his first win of the season in Pittsburgh in his last outing, and has yet to face the Cardinals so far this season. He’ll face Adam Wainwright, who has been as solid as ever.

Some lineup tweaks for Bell and company, as Shogo Akiyama moves back into the leadoff spot and Joey Votto moves to third in the lineup. Mike Moustakas gets the night off.

First pitch is again set for 8:15 PM ET.
