There were the struggles against the Detroit Tigers, and the crushing 13-0 dismantling at the hands of Cleveland. There’s the absence, again, of Mike Moustakas, who’s fighting his third lineup-tussle of the year already. Nick Senzel is in a similar tale of toil, too, with a groin injury now shelving him temporarily, while Pedro Strop appears set for the sidelines for quite a bit longer.
With all that frustration, the Cincinnati Reds are a Sunday victory over the Milwaukee Brewers away from claiming a road series sweep and a return to .500. And, they get to do so with ace Sonny Gray on the mound.
Could be a lot worse, couldn’t it?
Gray will bring his 0.96 ERA to the mound against the Beers, but the Reds bats will have to square up against Milwaukee fireballer Brandon Woodruff, who continues to look the part of their next ace-in-waiting.
First pitch is set for 2:10 PM ET. Go Reds.
