Things went from bad to worse last night.
The Reds need to make up some ground. They’ll have to do that against Milwaukee’s best pitcher in Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff had a good start to the season, but has struggled lately and has managed to get a quick hook in his last few ballgames. He gave up 2 runs to the Reds the last time they were in Milwaukee, but that was good enough to keep the Brew Crew in the game for a win.
That said, the Reds’ lineup looks, once again, pretty uninspired. Aaron wrote about this earlier today, but the Reds are basically running the same team out there every night hoping for different results. Tonight is no exception, as Mark Payton gets another start in LF. Luis Castillo gets the ball for Cincinnati, with his chance to be the stopper that this team desperately needs.
The Reds did make a roster move before the game tonight, calling up Jesse Biddle to take a spot in the bullpen as Anthony DeSclafani heads to the paternity list. Biddle had a solid 2018 season with the Braves before blowing up last year, making stops in Atlanta, Seattle, and Texas and never really figuring it out. If there’s anything that the 2020 Reds don’t lack it, it’s guys with bad recent pasts and crossed fingers that they’ll turn it around in a Reds uniform. Jose Garcia was also added to the taxi squad, which is useless since it doesn’t actually help the team in real games.
First pitch is set for 8:10 PM ET.
