After a night like last night, the Reds need to have some urgency tonight. Another loss takes them to 4 games under .500, the 3rd worst mark in the National League there. Even if there seems to be less urgency with the expanded playoffs this year, there’s a very real possibility they could find themselves on the outside looking in once again.
The Reds could use a good start from Anthony DeSclafani, who could use one himself. Disco gave up 9 runs at home to the lowly Pirates in his last start, so I’m sure he wants to right the ship and get back on track. He’ll face Dakota Hudson, who hasn’t made it out of the 5th in either of his starts so far.
The Reds’ lineup is the same as last night’s. I’m not sure what anyone else has to do to get the DH spot away from a slumping Josh VanMeter, but after the offensive struggles so far, it’s a little surprising that they haven’t made more changes. C’est la vie.
Please go Reds.
