The Miami Marlins home opener has been postponed, and the club will not host the Baltimore Orioles at all today or tomorrow. That comes on the heels of no fewer than 11 players and coaches testing positive for COVID-19 within the last two days, the kind of outbreak that’s having residual scheduling ramifications on the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees, as the Marlins just wrapped a series against Philadelphia yesterday.

This brings me to the Cincinnati Reds, who have played precisely three games this season and have lost precisely three players to COVID-19 concerns. So far, we only know Matt Davidson has actually tested positive, but the fear is such that Mike Moustakas has already landed on the IL after feeling bad yesterday and Nick Senzel was held out yesterday for similar reasons. Whether they have it or not is obviously important on a personal level, but from a purely baseball perspective - which is an obtuse way of looking at things, I acknowledge - even the ‘maybe’ is enough to keep them out of play.

Thus is our nation’s attempt at a dystopian fusion of baseball and pandemic prep.

Point is, the Marlins outbreak is causing ripple effects, but for now, the Reds mini-outbreak has not. At least, not yet. And with that in mind, there is scheduled baseball for this evening in GABP, as the Reds welcome the Chicago Cubs to town for what is supposed to be four games in four days. Wade Miley and Jon Lester will face off in a battle of lefties, and the lineups you can find below certainly reflect that.

The Reds lineup, of course, not only reflects life against a lefty, it also represents what a lineup can look like after you take Davidson, Moustakas, and Senzel out of the question. Fun times, we have.

First pitch is set for 6:40 PM ET, and you’ll find it broadcast on both FS-Ohio and
