If you’re wondering why the Cincinnati Reds have yet to announce any camp cuts while the rest of the baseball world has begun to thin their ranks, look no further than the team’s schedule. With yet another split-squad doubleheader on-tap today, that’ll mark a full 7 games played since Saturday morning.

That’s quite the pile of condensed baseball, though after today’s contests against the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks, respectively, the Reds will get a much-deserved day off on Wednesday. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if that’s when we finally hear of some cuts, especially with Thursday beginning a 7-day run of single-game days.

So, today’s likely the last chance to make a lasting impact for awhile for many of the minor leaguers in camp, though unfortunately for fans not in attendance, we won’t be doing any of the observing. Neither game today is televised in any fashion, meaning you’ll have to rely on radio and your ears to glean any information.

Tune in roughly a few minutes after 4 PM ET if you and your eardrums are so inclined, as both contests are slated to begin shortly after that time.

Go Reds.

Go other Reds, too.
