The Reds prevailed in the the desert last night, in large part because of home runs from Joey Votto and Josh VanMeter. So that’s pretty cool. It’s their second straight win over the Diamondbacks, after taking the final game from them in Cincinnati last weekend.

The Reds will roll with Anthony DeSclafani tonight. He just held these Diamondbacks to three hits over six innings just last Sunday. In two starts in Chase Field, Disco has a 1.80 ERA, which is pretty solid. Disco is in the middle of one of his hot streaks, as over his last five starts, he’s allowed only eight earned runs while striking out 27. His season ERA is approaching sub-four levels (4.04 ERA).

He’s really quietly had a solid year.

The Arizona pitcher will be Merrill Kelly, which is a silly name. Anyway, he’s not particularly good, having pitched 163.1 innings this season to a 4.68 ERA (4.72 FIP) this season. That’s been good for a measly 0.4 bWAR over the season. He has strung together two pretty good starts recently, however, having allowed only three earned runs over his last 13 IP, striking out 14 to only four walks.

I’m sure he’ll throw eight no hit innings tonight against these Reds.
