It’s August 6th, and the 2019 Cincinnati Reds aren’t just still relevant, they might well be playing their best baseball of the season. And, they’re doing so despite having just traded away Scooter Gennett, Yasiel Puig, and top prospect Taylor Trammell just last week.
The fact is, the Reds won 3 series in a row prior to heading to Atlanta to face the red-hot Braves, and managed a split down there in some pretty well played baseball. Now, they’re trying to put away the fighting Mike Trouts, and are actually doing a pretty good job of doing just that. Do that, and the looming weekend series against the Chicago Cubs suddenly becomes the singel most important series we’ve seen in Reds country in at least the last 6 years.
Aaron and Grimey joined me to yap about just that on the latest edition of the RR Podcast, one that we recorded just before tonight’s rain delay. So, have a listen, if you will, which you can either do by clicking this here link (get it?) or by smashing that big orange play button next to the Legend of Senzelda pizza GIF header below.
