The Cincinnati Reds got back to winning on Monday, as the combo of Freddy Galvis and Sonny Gray helped best the Miami Marlins in a 6-3 contest. On Tuesday, the Reds will turn to fellow ace Luis Castillo in an attempt to cobble together a modest winning streak, and the fireballing righty will get a chance to do work against his former club.
Castillo, of course, was traded to the Reds in exchange for Dan Straily a few years back. Thanks for that, Marlins.
Miami, on the other hand, will turn to lefty Caleb Smith, who has actually managed to put together a pretty decent season for the fish. The 28 year old owns a 3.82 ERA across 21 starts, with an impressive 10.6 K/9 to go along with it.
As you can see below, the Reds will still be rolling out more or less their everyday lineup of the last few weeks, as there’s no need to bench any lefties with a southpaw on the mound and stack righty mashers because, well, Jesse Winker and Joey Votto are already on the 10-day IL.
First pitch is set for 7:10 PM ET.
