The Cincinnati Reds are floundering at the moment, at risk of punting away their 2019 hopes for good. After Saturday’s thumping of the Chicago Cubs on the back of a 3-dinger game from Aristides Aquino, the future and present looked increasingly bright, but a trio of frustrating losses in a row have sunk this season to perhaps its breaking point.
Now, the Reds get to try to tackle Stephen Strasburg, as the Washington Nationals will send their healthiest ace to the mound to try to sweep the Reds out of the capital altogether.
Fortunately, the Reds can turn to Trevor Bauer, who was simply brilliant in his most recent outing. If he can replicate his 11 K dominance again today, the Reds will surely have a chance, though even then it’s quite the tall task given their opposition.
First pitch is set for 4:05 PM ET, for some reason.
Go Reds. Goooooo.
