Brandon Larson Honorary Star Of The Night
Ibandel Isabel - 3 for 5, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
Louisville Bats 1, Gwinnett Stripers 6
Vlad “Saggy Glutes” Gutierrez put up a real ugly line in this one. He allowed three earned runs over 1.2 innings on four hits, four walks, while striking out one batter. Jackson Stephens didn’t fare any better in his 1.2 innings. But, those were the only runs given up as the back part of the bullpen locked down 5.2 shutout innings. This was done by Joe “The Fly” Mantiply (2.2 IP, 1 K), Alex “International Man of Mystery” Powers (2 IP, 1 K), and Matt “Archer” Bowman (1 IP, 0 K). Narciso “Babbling” Crook doubled and walked.
Chattanooga Lookouts 9, Birmingham Barons 1
Packy “Get Wacky” Naughton continues to display his brilliance of 2019. While he wasn’t striking anyone out, he still got the job done. Naughton allowed one earned run over seven innings on five hits, one walk, while striking out two. Wyatt “Riot” Strahan struck out one in a scoreless innings, and Cory Thompson didn’t give up a run while closing out the ninth. Ibandel “Izzy” Isabel went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI which all came on his 24th dong blast of the year. He also hit a double. Jonathan “Bollywood” India got himself off to hot start in AA with a 3 for 5 evening with a RBI and two runs scored. Brantley “Ding Dong” Bell knocked in two on a 2 for 4 night. Alfredo Rodriguez went 2 for 5, and Jose Siri walked twice.
Daytona Tortugas 7, Tampa Tarpons 3
Jared “Temple Of” Solomon gave up three earned runs over 4.2 innings on five hits, three walks, while striking out three. After that the bullpen was nails. Michael “Crotch” Byrne struck out two in 2.1 innings, Andy “Box” Cox pitched a clean innings, and Connor Bennett struck out one in his scoreless inning. Bryant Flete “Of Foot” went 1 for 3 with two walks. Yon Mendoza went 2 for 4 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored, and Lorenzo Cedrola went 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI.
Dayton Dragons 0, Great Lakes Loons 2 (F/10)
The Dragons and Loons played a real snooze fest until the Loons took the game over in extras. Lyon “Heart” Richardson continues to show some real good growth as a young man playing against advanced competition. Richardson pitched three scoreless innings while giving up three hits, two walks, while striking out five. He’s done a real decent job at controlling the walks while striking out batters. The Reds have kept him on some pretty low pitch counts, but I’d say this is a very encouraging season out of the 2nd round pick in 2018. He’s only 19 years old after all. Moises “Super” Nova struck out three in three scoreless innings of relief, and Jerry “Bird Bird” D’Andrea struck out three in his three innings as well. Juan Martinez singled and walked.
Billings Mustangs 2, Great Falls Voyagers 6
Miguel Medrano gave up three earned runs over four innings. He did strike out five but also allowed five hits, walked one, and got smacked around by two homers. Jake Stevenson struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief. Quin “Killed Fitty Men” Cotton hit a solo dinger.
Greeneville Red 5, Danville Braves 7
Tanner “Mr.” Cooper struck out six in four innings of scoreless relief. He did walk three but didn’t allow a hit. Garrett Wolforth went 3 for 4 with two RBI, AJ Bumpass “And Hit” went 2 for 5 with a RBI, and Raul Juarez went 2 for 2 with a walk and two runs scored. Overall, the Baby Reds had eight hits and three walks but none went for extra bases.
