Fresh off a dismal home series against division rivals St. Louis, the Cincinnati Reds head to Milwaukee to try to beer-batter the Brewers in a three game set beginning Monday night.
It might, at this juncture, be too far gone for the 2019 Reds to compete, but if they’re every going to make a miraculous climb up the NL Central standings, that climb must begin tonight. They sit seven games back of the Beers in the standings - a full nine games behind the Chicago Cubs, who lead the division - and with the July 31st trade deadline just around the corner, it’s quite hard to justify bolstering what this team is to date.
Sonny Gray will toe the rubber for the Reds tonight, and he’ll do so having pitched some truly excellent baseball of late. Milwaukee will counter with veteran righty Chase Anderson, and hopefully the woeful Reds offense can find a way to go yard early and often against him.
First pitch is set for 8:10 PM ET.
Go Reds.
