Cardinals at Reds, Game 4 - Preview and Lineups

Hey! They won one!

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Cincinnati Reds David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

Luis Castillo held up his end of the bargain last night while Josh VanMeter, the pitcher eater, slugged his first big league home run which turned out to be the difference!

With a win today, the Reds will salvage a series split (which seems impossible, really, but here we are). The Cubs won last night, so the Reds didn’t pick up any games by winning yesterday, they’re still nine games back on July 21st.

Maybe yesterday was the start of something special?

Today, the Reds will face Jack Flaherty, who has a season ERA of 4.41. That said, over his last two starts, he’s allowed only two runs in 14 innings pitched, striking out 14. Flaherty pitched against the Reds all the way back on April 28th, pitching seven innings of zero run ball, striking out four.

So, yeah.

Anthony DeSclafani will take the mound for the Reds. Disco’s faced the Cardinals three times this season with a 3.00 ERA over 15 innings, which is pretty good!
