Back at home! The Reds take on the Cardinals for a 4-game set at home, on what’s shaping up to be a hot, humid weekend.
The Reds’ revamped roster gets the ball rolling at 7:10 tonight behind Tanner Roark. Roark is coming off of his worst start of the season, and with the Reds’ recent ineptitude, this is probably his most important start in a Reds uniform so far for a variety of reasons. A win today could move the Reds closer to being buyers, and if the Reds decide not to, could bolster Roark’s trade value as one of the best short-term rental arms on the market. Is it cynical to think of this baseball team that way at this point in the season? Probably, but the on-field product hasn’t been much to romanticize, either.
The Cardinals, however, are 4-2 since the All-Star break, and have Dakota Hudson on the mound tonight. This is the third time Hudson has faced the Reds so far this year, but the first time at GABP.
Please go, Reds.
