The Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
Mitch Nay - 3 for 4, 2 HR, 4 RBI
Louisville Bats 3, Indianapolis Indians 8
Triple-A has not been going well for Tejay “TJ” Antone. His 2nd start went about as bad as his first with the Bats, as he allowed 6 runs (5 earned) on 12 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 6 innings of work. It was nice to see that he settled things down, as 5 of those 6 runs came in the 1st inning. Josh “Feed The” VanMeter went 2 for 4 with a double and Brian “Beef” O’Grady went 2 for 4 with a solo dinger.
Brad Markey starts tonight for Louisville at 7:05 PM EDT.
Chattanooga Lookouts 6, Tennessee Smokies 8
Chattanooga had a late rally come up short against the Smokies last night in a 8-6 loss. Tony Santillan got the start and got lit up. He lasted only 3.2 innings and allowed 7 runs on 9 hits with 3 walks and only 1 strikeout. Wyatt Strahan struck out 3 in 2.1 scoreless innings. Mitch “Say Hey” Nay led the way on offense, going 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI. Stuart “Sweet” Fairchild “Of Mine” made his AA debut, going 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored.
TBD gets the start today at 11:15 AM EDT.
Daytona Tortugas 9, Tampa Tarpons 3
“Return of the” Mac Sceroler started for Daytona last night and was strong, going 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 7. It was a very solid night at the plate for the Tortugas. Bruce “BRUUUUUUUUCE” Yari went 3 for 5 with a 2-run dinger. Jonathan India went 1 for 4 with a double, a walk, and 1 RBI, and Jose Garcia went 1 for 3 with a walk and a 3-run blast. Drew “Clegane” Mount went 2 for 4 and drove in a run.
Austin Orewiler starts today at 10:35 AM EDT.
Dayton Dragons 1, West Michigan Whitecaps 3
“John” Jhon De Jesus started for Dayton last night and wasn’t bad. He allowed only 2 runs on 5 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts over 5.1 innings of work. Alexis Diaz struck out 5 and allowed a run in 2 innings of relief. Unfortunately, the offense. Juan Martinez went 1 for 3 with a solo homer. That’s about it.
Lyon Richardson gets the start tonight at 7:05 PM EDT.
Billings Mustangs 6, Missoula Osprey 9
Nick “Travieso Howard” Lodolo started for Billings and threw 1.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 1. It didn’t get much better from there on the pitching side. If you think you have ever started slow at anything in life, just remember that Cash Case went 2 for 5 with a triple last night and raised his batting average to .100. Quin “Bold Move” Cotton went 2 for 5 with a double and Leonardo “Ninja Turtle” Seminati went 1 for 4 with a solo homer.
Miguel Medrano starts tonight for Billings at 7:05 PM MDT.
Greeneville Reds 6, Johnson City Cardinals 14
Gross, gross gross. There was definitely some pitching last night, in that people threw baseballs off a mound towards a batter. Orlando Norriega gave up 5 runs in 5 innings with 4 strikeouts in his start. Dan Serreino relieved him and also gave up 5 runs on 5 hits but failed to record an out. Oof. AJ “Bearcat” Bumpass went 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI. Reyny Reyes went 3 for 4 and Allan Cerda “Mattress” went 1 for 3 with a 3-run dinger.
Greeneville plays tonight at 7:05 PM EDT.
