The Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
Vladimir Gutierrez - 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
With the way the season has gone for Vladimir Gutierrez, he gets the award for having a good night last night. The rest of the farm was pretty meh, so there you go.
Louisville Bats 3, Gwinnett Stripers 5
Louisville allowed a walk-off 2-run home run in the bottom of the 10th to fall 5-3. Normally that would be insignificant, but Adam Duvall was the one who hit the dinger. Vladimir “Vlad Gootz” Gutierrez got the start and pitched much better. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts over 5.2 innings of work. Joe “Add, Subtract, Divide, and” Mantiply struck out all 3 batters he faced in his scoreless inning of relief. Alex “The Great” Blandino continued to hit well, going 2 for 4 with a walk, a RBI, and a run scored while Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino extended his hitting streak to 21 games, going 1 for 3 with a walk and 1 RBI.
Tejay Antone returns to Louisville tonight at 7:05 PM EDT.
Chattanooga Lookouts
Chattanooga is in their All-Star break and will resume play on June 20.
Daytona Tortugas 0, Florida Fire Frogs 4
Offense was non-existent for the Tortugas in a 4-0 loss on Tuesday. Wennington “Losington” Romero started and allowed 4 runs on 7 hits while allowing no walks and striking out 7 over 5 innings of work. The rest of the bullpen was solid, as John Ghyzel and Dauri Moreta each threw 2 shutout innings. Jonathan “Bollywood” India went 2 for 4 with a double.
Scooter Gennett was scratched from the lineup for precautionary reasons. The field was wet due to rain before the game, so the Reds didn’t want to risk anything. Daytona will play their last game of the first half today at 10:35 AM EDT.
Dayton Dragons
Dayton is in their All-Star break and will resume play on June 20.
Billings Mustangs 7, Great Falls Voyagers 8
Billings has not had an ideal start to the season. Their 8-7 loss on Tuesday drops them to 0-4 on the year. Justin McGregor got the start for Billings last night and pitched pretty well. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts over 5 innings of work. Nick “:(“ Travieso made his return and it did not go well. He allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 1 hit with 3 walks and 1 strikeout over .2 innings of work. Leonardo Seminati went 2 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI while Reniel Ozuna went 1 for 3 with 2 walks and a solo dinger.
Carlos Carreno gets the start for Billings tonight at 6:35 PM MDT.
Greeneville Reds 3, Kingsport Mets 8
Things could have gone better in the Baby Reds’ season debut, as they fell 8-3 to the Baby Mets last night. Jose Salvador got the start and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 3 innings of work. Raul Wallace struck out 2 in 2 scoreless innings of work. Carlos Reina went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and scored a run and Raul Juarez went 1 for 4 with a solo dinger. The recent draft pick trio of Ivan Johnson, Tyler “Brake Pads” Callihan, and Rece Hinds didn’t have a great start, as they went a combined 0 for 12 with a walk.
Greeneville plays tonight at 6:30 PM EDT.
