To all the dads out there, Red Reporter would like to wish you the warmest and happiest of Father’s Day. Hopefully you’re able to settle in and watch some winning Reds baseball with your loved ones.

Sonny Gray will take the mound today for the Reds, who are looking to avoid the sweep. This has been a pretty crappy series for the Redlegs thus far, as they got pounded on Friday and only managed three hits last night. Gray has the opportunity to turn things around for the Good Guys. He’s been pretty successful against Texas in his career, which featured a long stint in the AL West. Gray has a career 2.72 ERA vs. the Rangers.

The Rangers will use Ariel Jurado, who’s in the midst of a pretty solid season in Texas. He has a 3.02 ERA so far this season, in 41.2 innings pitched across 14 games (five starts). His FIP is a full point higher, and the peripheral numbers (7.3 K/9, 2.6 BB/9, 1.272 WHIP) aren’t exactly elite, so maybe it’s possible the Reds can do some Dad’s Day damage.
