Phil Ervin did it to them again, blasing another two homers along with a double on a 3 hit, 4 RBI night. He’s heating up, folks!

Louisville Bats 11, Durham Bulls 6

“There Can Be Only” Juan Martinez got, as far as I can tell, his first start of the season in this one for the Bats. His Louisville tenure hasn’t gone all that well (5 IP), and he allowed 3 ER tonight on 7 hits and walk and 3 strikeouts. His Louisville ERA is 23.40 after a flawless 13 innings in Chattanooga. Tristan “& Isolde” Archer, one of the newest members of the organization, also got 3 innings of work, allowing a solo home run with 4 hits and a walk and a strikeout. Sloppy Sal Romano was credited for tonight’s win, though he allowed 2 ER off 3 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched. His season ERA stands at 5.28, which you know, isn’t great. Jimmy Herget struck out his only batter.

The Bats were powered by, well, their bats. Phil Ervin had another big night. After dingering twice last night, he dingered twice more and doubled on a 3 hit night. Brian “Beef” O’Grady continued his scorching first two months of the season, doubling as part of a 3 hit night himself, scoring twice and driving 2 in. Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino hit thrice as well.

Up Next: The Bats will take on Norfolk at 7:05 EDT, with the vaunted TBD taking the mound.

Chattanooga Lookouts 0, Jackson Generals 5

This wasn’t “Wacky” Packy Naughton’s finest of the season as he adjusts to life in Double A baseball. Packy allowed 10 hits in 5 innings, but only 3 ER, striking out 3 and walking only 1. Nick Howard, THAT Nick Howard, pitched 2 innings (his first 2 of the season, as far as I can find), allowing 3 hits and a run. Jacob Stallings allowed a run in his inning off 3 hits.

The Lookouts managed three singles. Taylor Trammell managed one of those, but after his torrid start to the season, his OPS is down to .723, so let’s not spend a lot of time here.

Up Next: Tony “SantiGold” Santillan will go for the Lookouts against Jackson at 7:05 PM EDT.

Daytona Tortugas 1, Palm Beach Cardinals 2

The Tuga pitching did enough, but the offense didn’t help at all. Ryan “Eli” Lillie allowed only 2 runs with 4 strikeouts in a 7 hit, 6.2 IP effort. Andy “Dr.” Cox allowed a hit, a walk, and struck out 1 for his only out of the game, while Aneurys Zabala struck out 2 in an inning of work.

Hendrik “Oh My Darling” Clementina slugged a home run for the only Dragonas run of the night. Andy Sugilio doubled on a 3 hit night, but couldn’t be picked up.

Up Next: Jared “King” Solomon will start against Jupiter at 6:30 PM EDT.

Dayton Dragons 4, Lansing Lugnuts 9

Ugh. Jhon “not John” De Jesus started and went 4.2 IP, allowing 2 ER (4 R) on 7 hits and 2 walks with 4 K. Eduardo Salazar was worse, allowing 3 earned on 5 hits in 2.1, striking out 2. “Ed, Edd n” Eddy Demurias finished out the final 2, allowing 2 and striking out 3.

The Dragons offense was efficient, I guess? They only managed 4 hits, but scored 4 runs. Jay “Should’ve played basketball for Duke with this name” Schuyler dingered, while “There Isn’t Actually” Juan Martinez doubled.

Up Next: James Marinan takes on South Bend for the Dragons at 7:00 PM EDT.
