To say that this weekend is a big series is an understatement. The Reds come into this weekend against the Chicago Cubs 7.5 games out of first place. A sweep either way could either make or break the season, while even taking 2 out of 3 would go a long way to getting the Reds back in the thick of things.
The Reds send Anthony DeSclafani to the mound for Game 1. Disco has struggled in his last couple of starts, allowing 4 earned runs in each start while only lasting 4 innings each. It doesn’t get any easier for him, as Chicago currently owns the second-best record in the National League. His opponent will be Kyle Hendricks, who was a one-man wrecking crew against the Reds last week. He allowed only one run over his 8 innings and went 3 for 4 from the plate, driving in 2 of the Cubs’ 3 runs. Here’s to hoping today doesn’t go quite as well for him.
It’s a Wrigley special today, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:20 PM EDT. Let’s go Reds.
