What’s up, plugged-in Reds fans! Today’s FanPulse Presented by SB Nation is brought to you by that time your sister visited and left her toothbrush. Five months later and that toothbrush is still sitting in the toothbrush cup in the bathroom and surely she spent a buck to get a new one a long time ago but you keep telling yourself she’ll be back ‘round to visit soon enough and you’ll give it back to her but even then what the hell is she going to do with an old toothbrush she has a new one by now and she probably wore out that new one and has a replacement even for that one but how could you throw it out what if she actually does want it I guess you could text her and ask her if she wants it but that would be really weird five months later “hEy sIs U wAnT tHiS tOoThBrUsH?” don’t be such a weirdo and just throw it out I guess you could just put it in the top drawer and leave it there I think that’s what I’ll do at least I won’t have to look at it.
This week’s FanPulse results are familiar. The Reds seem to be floating in that uncanny valley where they are, at the top line, playing in a way that is not unexpected. We might be surprised at how good the pitching is or how bad the hitting is or how unlucky they have been, but all in all they are a lap off the pace of the front-runners. And that’s kinda how I read the results of this FanPulse project over the first 1⁄4 of the season. The grades in individual classes are all way, way off expectations, but the GPA is right around where we thought it would be.
