You can look at the entire season that Cincinnati Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani has put together to date, and it looks pretty, pretty good. The ERA is down, the WHIP is, too, and he’s striking out fools at a prolific level.
Focus just on his last 4 starts, though, and the numbers are simply terrific. In that time, he’s struck out 28 against just 7 walks in 23.2 IP, the 4 ER allowed indicative of the .502 OPS he’s yielded to opposing batters during that stretch. Not to mention, that includes the 3-run dinger surrendered to San Francisco Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval just last week, one that Disco will surely have fresh in his memory as he again faces the Giants on Saturday.
The Reds, meanwhile, will be up against Jeff Samardzija in the second game of this series, he of ‘allowed dingers on three consecutive pitches something something’ to these Reds just last week, too. Hopefully, the Cincinnati bats can continue their offensive emergence, as that would go a long way towards digging themselves out of the NL Central cellar.
First pitch is set for 9:05 PM ET, so get your popcorn ready.
