The Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
There really wasn’t much good baseball to go around last night. Josh VanMeter hit his first dinger of the season, though and provided the only run for Louisville. So he gets it. Hopefully there will be better baseball tonight.
Louisville Bats 1, Columbus Clippers 2
Louisville came out on the short side of a pitchers’ duel on Monday, falling 2-1 to Columbus in 10 innings. Jose “J-Lo” Lopez started and lasted 4 innings, giving up an earned run on 2 hits while walking 3 and striking out 5. Jimmy “Drinks to” Herget struck out 3 batters in 1.1 scoreless innings and Matt Bowman struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings. There wasn’t much to write home about offensively, as the Bats only collected 2 hits on the night. One of those came from Josh “Feed the” VanMeter, who hit a solo dinger.
Up Next: Odrisamer Despaigne gets the start tonight at 6:05 PM EDT.
Chattanooga was rained out last night and will be off again tonight.
Daytona Tortugas 3, Palm Beach Cardinals 0
Daytona didn’t do any better at the plate than their Triple-A colleagues. They got blanked by Palm Beach on Monday night. Michael “Feel the” Byrne started and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits with no walks and a strikeout over 4 innings of work. Austin “Animal Farm” Orewiler and Ryan Olson “Twins” each struck out 3 in 2 innings of work. Jonathan “Bollywood” India reached base twice, going 1 for 3 with a walk.
Up Next: Reiver Sanmartin looks to build off his solid debut tonight at 6:30 PM EDT.
Dayton Dragons 5, Fort Wayne TinCaps 9
Dayton at least managed to score some runs, but they gave up a lot more in a 9-5 loss. Lyon Richardson started and was decent, giving up 1 run on 2 hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts over 4 innings. The bullpen unfortunately just shit the bed full of runs, giving up 8 in the last 5 innings. Bren “Three-eyed Raven” Spillaine went 1 for 3 with a double and scored a run while Juan Martinez and Reniel Ozuna each went 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored. The winning pitcher for Fort Wayne last night was Henry Henry. Seriously.
Up Next: Jared Solomon starts tonight at 7:05 PM EDT.
