Josh VanMeter - 4 for 5, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 4 R, 1 BB

Louisville Bats 15, Toledo Mud Hens 4

Let’s just get the pitching out of the way really quick; Jose Lopez was not great, scattering 8 hits and allowing 4 ER in 5 IP, with a walk and only 2 K. The bullpen was mostly fine, though, with Jesus “Walks” Reyes pitching 2 innings allowing both 1 walk and strikeout. “Sloppy” Sal Romano pitched an inning allowing a hit, striking out 1, while Ian “Can’t Walk Before You” Krol allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning.

It’s not like the pitching was under much stress for the evening, however. Josh “Not Mini” VanMeter went off, again. He tied a Louisville Bats team record with 8 RBI in this one on a 3 dinger night, one of which was Grand Slam. He walked once for good measure. On the season, VanMeter has a .370 batting average and a 1.237 OPS. He’s absolutely killing it in the International League early this season.

Nick Senzel hit 3 times in 6 at bats, driving in 2 of his own on a dinger (and scoring 4 times, which helps when the guy right behind you is hitting tater after tater). Rob “Don’t Blame The” Refsnyder hit thrice (with a triple) and knocked 2 in to go with a walk, while Brian “Beef” O’Grady had a dinger and a double on a 4 hit night, driving in 2 (he’s also OPSing 1.154 on the young season). Those four had 14 of Louisville’s 18 hits. Just... damn.

Up Next: Odrisamer “Brut” Despaigne faces off against the Mud Hens Kyle Funkhouser at 6:35 PM EDT.

Chattanooga Lookouts 5, Biloxi Shuckers 14

Things went in the opposite way for the Lookouts, as they got shucked by the Shuckers.

Tony “Santigold” Santillan was fine, pitching 6 innings of 3 ER ball, scattering 5 hits and striking out 8. Aaron “Mu” Fossas screwed the pooch big time, allowing 4 ER in 0.1 IP. Wyatt “Derp” Strahan wasn’t much better, allowing 4 H and 4 ER of his own in 1.2 IP. Ty Boyles, too, was bad, allowing 3 ER with 2 BB in 1 IP.

Tyler Stephenson hit his second dong of the season on a two hit day. Jose “Hip Hip Hey” Siri had 2 hits and a run scored, while Narciso “I Am Not A” Crook and “Surprisingly Not A Country Singer” Brantley Bell doubled. Taylor Trammell had a hit and a run scored.

Up Next: The Lookouts will take a much needed break after that beat down.

The Tortugas were off

Up Next: Daytona will square off with Dunedin at 7:05 PM EDT. Michael “Soak It In” Byrne will take the hill for the Tuges.

The Dragonas were off, too

Up Next: Dayton and Peoria will throw down at 7:35 PM EDT. “Heart Of A” Lyon Richardson will look to lower his 5.87 ERA in the process.
