The Cincinnati Reds offense has gradually been picking itself up off the ground after the first week and half of the season largely knocked it flat on its keister. Last night’s 12-1 romp over the St. Louis Cardinals in the series opener in #Bush Stadium was yet another sign that the aspect of this club that we thought would be a strength is beginning to emerge - namely, that this roster is littered with dudes who can sock dingers at will, and that will absolutely, positively begin to emerge as this season goes on.
Let’s hope that materializes again today, as the Reds will take on Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson in afternoon action as the series continues. Hudson, 24, was the Cards 1st round pick from the 2016 MLB Draft, by the way, in case you’re wondering if it’s possible for any MLB teams to have called up their 1st round picks from that draft. He has also surrendered a whopping 8 dingers in just 18.1 IP this year, so there’s certainly a chance the Reds dinger-happy ways will continue today.
On the mound for Cincinnati will be Tyler Mahle, who is absolutely in the midst of what will prove to be a breakout year, according to this guy who totally, dumbly predicted that he would win the NL Rookie of the Year Award last year.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:15 PM ET.
