If it feels as if it’s been forever since the Cincinnati Reds were back home in GABP, well, you’re almost correct. The club last played a ‘home’ home game on April 11th, having since spent time in Monterrey, Mexico, Los Angeles, and now San Diego, but on Sunday they’ll wrap this whirlwind trip and head home - hopefully on the heels of a four-game sweep of the Padres.
They’ll need another solid outing from Tyler Mahle to get that done, but to date the young righty has been very much up to that task. They’ll also need some help from a righty-heavy lineup as they face off against yet another Padres left-hander in Joey Lucchesi. Thanks in large part to a lefty on the mound and Joey Votto being out for the second straight game with a stiff back, we’ve been greeted with a lineup featuring ‘Matt Kemp - cleanup guy.’
Something something ‘catch the fever born to baseball our pets’ heads are falling off whatever’ something something. Get healthy soon, Nick Senzel, so we can end this brief, mundane chapter in Reds history, please.
First pitch is set for 4:10 PM ET.
Go Reds.
