All right, here’s Round 2 for Game 2 of the season.
Yesterday’s game was (somewhat predictably) rained out. The Reds and Pirates will make it up with a day-night doubleheader on Memorial Day, which is essentially a baseball holiday. So, you’ll have plenty of time to soak in the Reds with your sun and beer and brats.
Basically, everything I wrote yesterday remains the same, except for all the Red Reporters being at the ball park. They’re not there, unless they somehow wondered in and passed out and are just now waking up from a night they will never remember...
Honestly you can’t rule it out.
I’ll save you a click, though, and re-post what I said about ol’ Trevor Williams:
The Reds will oppose Trevor Williams pitching for Pirates today. Williams put up a great season in 2018, putting up a 3.11 ERA in 170.2 IP. He allowed only two runs in 12 innings against the Reds last season with eight strikeouts, but he did allow 15 hits in the two games started. Williams’s second half stats in 2018 were particularly great; in 71.2 innings pitched after the All Star break, he allowed only 11 earned runs in 12 starts. It was a great run for the 26 year old right hander.
Sonny Gray will, indeed, go for the Reds again today, making his debut.
I believe the weather is going to cooperate for this one, as far as “getting a baseball game in” goes. I don’t know that it’s going to be particularly pleasant for anyone involved, as the highs are forecast in the low 30s and the wind ain’t gonna be great, either.
So, have fun if you’re at the park today. Hopefully Mr. Gray will make things Sonnier for Reds fans in attendance.
