Pirates at Reds: Game 1 - Preview and Lineups

Welcome to the official start of the 2019 season!

You’ve waited exactly 179 days for Cincinnati Reds baseball. In fact, the last time you watched them play real, actual baseball, they were taking a 6-5 loss on the chin to the Pittsburgh Pirates, who they’ll open the 2019 season against today.

You remember those Reds, right? Jim Riggleman, Matt Harvey, Homer Bailey and the like.

These Reds are something else entirely. Manager David Bell is at the helm for his first game as a big league skipper, and he’s rolling out a talented lineup featuring the new, smiley face of Yasiel Puig flanking Joey Votto in the lineup. Fireballing righty Luis Castillo will be on the mound for the Reds in his first career Opening Day start.

Pittsburgh, meanwhile, will counter with Jameson Taillon as their starter, with the extremely talented young righty on the cusp of legitimate ace-hood.

First pitch is set for 4:10 PM ET, and you can catch it on FS-Ohio, MLB.tv, or on pretty much any TV you come across in the tri-state area.

Welcome back, baseball. Go Reds.
